Hog Hollow Country Lodge at dusk, viewed from the forest edge at The Crags

The Crags · Garden Route, South Africa

Untamed Forest,
Unhurried Luxury

A private nature reserve above the Tsitsikamma forest, where mountain views meet fire-lit Boma evenings beneath the canopy.

A Lodge Held by Forest

Since 1993, Hog Hollow Country Lodge has kept a quiet address on the edge of indigenous forest at The Crags, eighteen kilometres from Plettenberg Bay. Our private nature reserve looks out over the Matjies River Gorge to the Tsitsikamma Mountains beyond, forest as far as the eye can travel, and a handful of suites tucked into its folds.

We built our reputation the way the forest grows, slowly and without excess. There is no glass tower here, no manicured spectacle. Just fireplaces lit at dusk, private decks angled for the view, and a warmth that has less to do with luxury than with attention.
